About
David lives and works in Victoria on Vancouver Island British Columbia. Over the last few years he has designed and built a selection of tables made of Vancouver Island woods, primarily Western Maple, Arbutus, Garry Oak and Yew. The pieces are designed to showcase the colors and beautiful grain of the wood. This is not found in commercial furniture. The style is modern west coast, with sleek lines and some Pacific Rim influence.
Biography
After completing a five year apprentiship at a Liverpool joinery company in 1967 David was awarded an advanced craft certificate from the City and Guilds of London. Two years later he immigrated to Canada settling in North Vancouver, British Columbia. He soon established his own thriving renovation company, designing and building to client specifications. During this time he always maintained a woodwork shop, making small furniture pieces. After 28 years and 3 grown daughters he relocated to Victoria on Vancouver Island and now concentrates his efforts on designing and crafting unique pieces of furniture made primarily of Vancouver Island woods.
Home
Trained in the traditions of English joinery, David has developed into a designer and crafter of modern west coast woodwork. Using mainly Vancouver Island woods, he skillfully maximizes the grain and color to showcase each piece.
